Bio

Lily is a multilingual educator who has spent over two decades in teaching and administration in public education, in Richmond, Virginia. She is a proud alumna of Reynolds Community College, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Longwood University, with undergrad, graduate, and post graduate degrees and certificates in English Literature, Teacher Education, Curriculum & Instruction, and Leadership & Supervision. Lily has lived in Richmond for the past 26 years and has served in various teaching and administrative roles in higher ed and k-12. She currently serves as Newcomer Specialist in the Department of Multilingual Learner Success in Richmond Public Schools. Her passion for literacy drives her advocacy for students of every background, and she thrives to provide equitable high-quality educational experiences for Multilingual Learners. Lily’s expertise is designing effective academic support programs grounded in reading and writing across all contents. The bilingual LIEP tutoring program she launched in April 2024 in Richmond Public Schools helped the district reach a historic 19% graduation growth for Multilingual Learners. Lily is also a solid advocate of bilingualism and biliteracy. In 2025, she led Richmond Public School’s Seal of Biliteracy testing and the district reached a 117% growth which was phenomenal. Outside routine work, Lily loves to travel and explore other cultures, and she enjoys playing backgammon with friends and family.
