š Virginia English Journal Honored with 2025 NCTE Affiliate Journal of Excellence Award
The Virginia Association of Teachers of English (VATE) is proud to announce that the Virginia English Journalāedited by Cinde Wollenbergāhas been selected as a recipient of the 2025 NCTE Affiliate Journal of Excellence Award.
Each year, the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) recognizes outstanding affiliate journals that demonstrate excellence in content, design, and connection to the broader English education community.
In its review, the NCTE Standing Committee on Affiliates commended the Virginia English Journal for publishing articles that are ārelevant and interesting from a range of authors with varied backgrounds and expertise.ā The committee also noted the thoughtful inclusion of pieces that connect the affiliateās work to NCTEās annual convention and ongoing initiatives.

VATE will be formally recognized at the 2025 NCTE Annual Convention during the Affiliate Breakfast on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
This honor highlights the dedication of the Virginia English Journalās editorial team and contributors who work to elevate English language arts teaching and scholarship across the Commonwealth.
