Robin SmithOutreach and Advocacy Chair
Robin Smith taught high school English, journalism, and creative writing for over 25 years in rural and suburban Virginia and currently teaches grammar, linguistics, and English education courses at Longwood. Her research interests are 21st century literacies, teacher preparation, change in the English language, and language prejudice. Robin earned her BA and MA in English literature from Longwood and her PhD in instructional technology from George Mason and is Nationally Board certified in Young Adult and Adolescent English Language Arts. Watching her grandchildren has made her realize how fascinating and personal language acquisition is—and how much she was too busy to notice with her own children!
