Freyja is the Subject Area Lead Teacher (chair), and Lead Mentor at Farmwell Station Middle School in Ashburn, VA. She earned her BA in British Literature and History from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) 1988, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from VA Tech in 1999, and a Masters in Educational Leadership / Admin from George Mason in 2010. Freyja enjoys teaching her students and working with beginning teachers in Loudoun County. Each year she looks forward to the VATE conference, knowing it will always be inspiring, and she will learn new things. Freyja frequently gives presentations at conferences, having presented on a variety of topics at VATE, NCTE, Longwood University, and in Loudoun County, where she also teaches classes on classroom management and student engagement. Freyja has two college age children, and her husband is a Physicist with George Washington University.
